MA State Police Implementing Norfolk County Sobriety Checkpoint

The sobriety checkpoint is happening across the county this weekend.

NORFOLK COUNTY, MA — The Massachusetts State Police will have a heightened presence in Norfolk County this weekend.

There isn't a special event, and Taylor Swift isn't heading to Gillette Stadium quite yet. Rather, the police have received a grant to implement a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday into Sunday.

Information on where these checkpoints will be is limited, with officials stating that they will be "on a public way."

In a statement, officials said the purpose of the checkpoints are to "further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways."

The checkpoints will operate during "varied hours," officials added.
