Motel 6 Ends Fight To Reopen Braintree Location
Motel 6's fight to reclaim their operating license is over, as is their time in Braintree.

BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Motel 6 will remain closed for good after the company ended their fight in court to reopen.
A notice of voluntary dismissal has been filed in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham with the court's online system indicating that the case has been settled.
"Motel 6 is closed forever. We win. Thanks to all who supported our efforts.," Mayor Joseph Sullivan tweeted Wednesday.

The move means for certain that if there is a business at that site, it will not be a Motel 6. Calls to close the motel, located on Union Street near the rotary and Route 3, increased after Officer Don Delaney was shot by a motel guest he was serving a warrant to. The motel guest, Tizaya Jordan Robinson of Dorchester, was found dead inside the room.
Following the May 2017 incident, the board of health voted about two months later to revoke the motel's operating license.

In past years, town officials have worked with the Motel 6 ownership to upgrade the property. Police has been a regular presence with a detail often posted, but the site remained known for regular arrests for a variety of charges including sex trafficking, larceny, and warrant arrests.
No word on what's next for the site, but Sullivan said back in May that there is interest in redevelopment.
