Norfolk Sheriff's Office Donates 150 Toys For Kids This Holiday Season

The toys were donated by staffers and will be given to kids in the care of the Department of Children and Families this year.

News release from Norfolk County Sheriff's Office.

The holiday spirit was shining bright on Wednesday as the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office delivered 150 toys, donated by its staff, to children in the care of the Department of Children and Families through the nonprofit, Wonderfund.

“The thought of knowing that a very deserving child is going to experience a little bit of joy on Christmas morning, during what might now be a difficult situation, warms our hearts,” said Sheriff Patrick McDermott.

Over the last couple of weeks, the dedicated staff at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office selected ornaments from a giving tree to fulfill the Christmas wishes of 150 of the boys and girls who are in the care of DCF.

Many of the staff selected more than one ornament, and they joined the caravan on Wednesday to deliver the gifts to DCF’s South Shore Center, in Braintree.

It’s all part of an effort by the “Wonderfund” to create magical moments and empower children in DCF care to feel seen and build resilience in the face of the tough times they have experienced.

“I am incredibly touched and thankful for the thoughtfulness and caring of the men and women of the NCSO,” said Sheriff McDermott. “Happy holidays to all!”
