Mary P. Luke, a Braintree resident and attorney, previously lived in Cambridge, Boston and Duxbury.
BRAINTREE, MA — Mary P. Luke, a Braintree resident and Massachusetts-based attorney, died suddenly on Jan. 18 at South Shore Hospital, according to an online obituary.
Luke previously lived in Cambridge, Boston and Duxbury. She was a graduate of Emmanuel College, Boston, and Suffolk Law School.
"Mary’s law career included guardianships for the elderly and mentally ill for the state of Massachusetts for more than thirty years. Notably, she worked on the “Framingham Eight” case with a group of advocate attorneys who helped change domestic abuse laws for women in Massachusetts," the obituary read.

Luke is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Doherty, of Dedham, her grandaughter Kiara Tahiraj, of Dedham, and her sister Theresa Luke, of Weymouth. She is predeceased by her parents Guy F. Luke, and Marie Luke, her brother Gerald Luke, and her late husband Alvin E. Wanthal.
