BRAINTREE, MA — Red Line service is suspended this week with the usual train service replaced by shuttle buses through Aug. 25, the MBTA announced.

The closure is in effect between Kendall/MIT and JFK/UMass, though shuttles will be available.

For those who are looking for an alternative, the Commuter Rail will be free between Braintree and South Station and Porter and North Station, officials said.
