Shuttle Buses Replacing Trains On Braintree MBTA Line This Weekend
The Red Line will experience alterations this weekend as the MBTA performs work at the JFK/UMass Station. Here's what to know.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree commuters will be forced to trade their train ride for the seat of a shuttle bus this weekend, the MBTA announced.
Red Line Ashmont and Braintree Branch trains will be replaced with accessible shuttle buses between Broadway and Ashmont stations, and between Broadway and North Quincy stations, during the weekend of Jan. 7-8.
This change is so work on the pedestrian bridge between Columbia Road and the lobby at JFK/UMass station can be performed, officials said.

"After necessary repairs are completed, the MBTA will reopen the pedestrian ramp at Columbia Road," officials noted.
The Red Line isn't the only facet of MBTA trains facing alterations, as January will feature changes for the Orange and Green Lines as well.

"Because of the continued demolition of the Government Center Garage by private developer HYM Construction, Orange and Green Line service changes will take place in January in the downtown Boston area," officials said.
"Additionally, the Medford Branch of the Green Line will be replaced with shuttle bus service from start to end of service on Sunday, January 8, to accommodate water line work."
