45th Walk for Hunger Set for Sunday, May 5
More than 35,000 are expected to walk for Project Bread.
The 45th annual Walk for Hunger Project Bread is scheduled for Sunday, May 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., rain or shine. The 20-mile walk through the Greater Boston Area is a great way to raise funds and awareness for hunger in Massachusetts. All of the proceeds go towards Project Bread.
“In 2012, Brookline residents were extremely generous to Project Bread, with 519 residents walking and raising nearly $85,000,” Erin Callanan of Callanan and Klein Communications said. “Brookline residents truly make a difference.”
Project Bread expects over 35,000 walkers and 2,000 volunteers will raise more than $3 million to help the hungry.

“The funds raised for The Walk for Hunger allow Project Bread to provide people with sustainable, reliable access to nutritious food—because the opposite of hungry is not simply full, but healthy,” Callanan wrote in a press release. “From community-based meal programs, to early childhood and school nutrition initiatives, to improved access to farm-to-table and local food resources, Project Bread funds more than 430 community food programs throughout Massachusetts.”
The Walk kicks off from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Boston Common Parade Grounds at the corner of Beacon and Charles Street. The 20-mile trek will wind its way through Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge. See the map in the images section for the complete map.
