Brookline Resident Named Top Male Athlete In Boston Triathlon

BROOKLINE, MA — A Brookline resident was named a top male athlete in the 14th annual Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon, which took place at Carson Beach in South Boston over the weekend.

Aaronn Gu won the title in the Olympic Distance race. Other winners include Emily Tato of Somerville, who triumphed as the top female athlete in the Olympic Distance race, Mohamad Alsabbagh of Somerville, who was named top male athlete in the Sprint Distance race, and Reia Tong of New York City, who was named top female athlete in the Sprint Distance race.

This year’s USA Triathlon-sanctioned event drew thousands of competitors and featured both the Olympic Distance and Sprint Distance races, along with the Boston Corporate Cup Competition and the annual Boston Tri Club Championship. The winner of the Corporate Cup was General Electric and the winner of the Tri Club Champions was Full Throttle.

“The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon has become a signature summer event for the city, drawing high-level athletes and beginners alike to compete in a world-class event,” Michael O’Neil, president of the Boston Triathlon, said in a statement. “We’re proud to not only host this exciting competition, but also to partner with the city and state, Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Boston Medical Center, and our athlete supporters to make a positive impact on the community.”

As in years past, the event’s official charity partner was Boston Medical Center (BMC). Team BMC athletes raised funds to support Boston Medical Center’s work in health equity and address social determinants of health.
