Carpenters Local 328 Endorses Brookline Rep. Tommy Vitolo

Carpenters 328 is the ninth union to endorse Vitolo.

BROOKLINE, MA — The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local 328 has endorsed Tommy Vitolo's re-election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

"We are proud to stand with Tommy as we fight together for safer workplaces and better wages,” John Cusack, Business Representative and Organizer for Local 328, said in a. statement. "Tommy is the only candidate in this race we can count on to have our back in public and in private, advocating for our shared legislative priorities and supporting our collective bargaining agreements. We are proud to endorse Tommy."

Carpenters Local 328 spans Allston, Belmont, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, Somerville, Waverley, and Winthrop, and has been active on several significant construction projects in Brookline, including Driscoll School.

"Supporting labor isn't simply showing up with a sign,” Vitolo said in a statement. "It requires working closely with unions on legislation to protect working people and their right to organize, on ensuring local project labor agreements, and in leveraging relationships with all parties to ensure labor's seat at the table. I've been working with the men and women of Local 328 for years, and I'm proud to have their endorsement."

In addition to Carpenters Local 328, Vitolo has been endorsed by gubernatorial candidate Maura Healey, 80 percent of the Select Board, 80 percent of all town-wide elected officials including all elected chairs, and 75 percent of Town Meeting Members. He's been endorsed by Treasurer Deb Goldberg, Senator Cindy Creem, former Governor Mike Dukakis, former MA-4 Congressman Barney Frank, philanthropist Chobee Hoy, Senior Center Board of Directors President Betsy Pollock, Climate Action Brookline Co-Chairs Susan Martin and John Harris, over two dozen former Select Board and School Committee Members, four former Brookline State Representatives, and four former Brookline principals.

Vitolo has also been endorsed by Brookline PAX, Reproductive Equity Now, Sierra Club, the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, 314 Action, the Bay State Stonewall Democrats, the Young Democrats of Massachusetts, Mass Retirees, the Boston Teachers Union, Iron Workers Local 7, 1199SEIU, SEIU NAGE, Sheet Metal Workers Local 17, Boston Carmen's Union Local 589, Laborers Local 22, the Mass Organization of State Engineers and Scientists, and the Massachusetts Voters for Animals.
