Zannetos Drops Out Of 4th Congressional Race, Endorses Mermell
With Chris Zannetos' departure from the race, it leaves seven Democratic candidates in the running.

BROOKLINE, MA — Candidate for congress Chris Zannetos announced Wednesday he has dropped out of the packed race to represent the 4th Congressional District, and endorsed candidate Jesse Mermell. Zannetos is the second to drop from the race and throw support behind Mermell.
The announcement leaves seven Democratic candidates vying for the seat Rep. Joe Kennedy leaves as he challenges Sen. Ed Markey for his seat in the senate. The 4th Congressional District runs from Newton and parts of Brookline, Wellesley and Hopkinton and down to the South Coast. Five of the remaining democratic candidates are from Brookline, two are from Newton.
"Unfortunately, with my late entry and a crowded race, it's been difficult to break through the noise," Zannetos said. "The easy path for me would be to finish this campaign on Election Day. But that would only take votes from a candidate who is committed to fixing this issue, who can win this race. There is one candidate who has shown in her career a consistent commitment to helping working people and those disenfranchised, and a willingness to create the public-private collaborations required to solve this challenge. This is why I am endorsing Jesse Mermell for Congress."

Zannetos said that although there were some policy areas in which he and Mermell disagree, he had confidence in her.
"She has the integrity and focus needed to help those left behind by our economy – and has proven that she can be counted on to do the hard work required," he said.
