BROOKLINE, MA — Sunday Larz Anderson Park was filled with families come to celebrate community and squeeze the last bit of summer out of the weekend. At the day's end, the vendors, bounce houses and community stands packed up and went home.

But one little guy was left behind. And it struck a chord with the Brookline Police Department.

Now, police are hoping to reunite the small well-loved bear with the person who so clearly loves him. Police took to Facebook to post a photo of the little bear, noting its similarity to the department's Comfort Dog "Bear."

"While cynics may choose to see the differences between them, we choose to see another gentle, well loved Bear whose purpose is to provide snuggles and love to their person(s). They're practically twins."

Both bears were at Brookline Day, the department mused, but while the department's Bear made it home safely to his loved ones, the bear in this photo did not fare as well.

"We suspect that this bear may be suffering from blunt force trauma to the head and torso, partial blindness and potentially some hygiene related issues, but we are confident that if we can find its rightful owner, Bear in the photo can make a full recovery," they posted.
