No One Injured In Brookline House Fire
Brookline Firefighters quickly put out a fire at a home on Powell Street Wednesday, according to Fire Chief John Sullivan.

BROOKLINE, MA — No one was injured in a house fire that started on the porch of a Powell Street home Wednesday morning, according to Brookline Fire Chief John Sullivan.
Around 9:30 a.m. crews were called to 41 Powell St. for a report of a fire. When they got there, firefighters saw a small fire on the front porch.
"We had to open up the porch roof and the adjacent interior walls to rule out any [spread of the fire], but thankfully it did not," Sullivan told Patch.

Officials are investigating just how the fire started. Sullivan said the owner of the home and a resident were there and safe when firefighters arrived.
"Great work by DC McEachern and Group 4," the fire department tweeted afterward. "Fire started on porch and spread quickly but was knocked down right away preventing extension and further damage."

Nearby roads were closed as crews worked, prompting slower traffic in the area.
