BROOKLINE, MA —There's a Japanese specialty market in town now selling everything from snacks to tea and coffee and grocery items.
Maruichi, a Japanese market based out of Connecticut, offers sashimi grade fish, ramen, bento, sushi and bubble tea, according to its Facebook page. The business planned to open in December, but didn't officially open its doors until February 8.
The market is made up of multiple shops, including the Japanese coffee shop Ogawa Coffee, Gen Sou En Tea House, Brooklyn Ramen and a sushi shop.

Gen Sou En opened in 299 Harvard Street in February 2018 in the space once occupied by the popular Panera Bread. But the high end tea house was beset by slow service and low customer volume, although customers gave largely good reviews when commenting on the food and beverages. In October 2018, it closed for a revamp and opened with a new concept, offering up dinner service. It closed for good early last year.
Take a look at its Facebook page.
