More Apartments Under Review for Coolidge Corner

Babcock Place would add an additional 62 apartments to the neighborhood, in addition to the tower proposed earlier this year.

BROOKLINE, MA — Another round of apartments could be coming to Coolidge Corner, with a new, five-story complex called "Babcock Place" currently under review.

The apartments, from developer Tremont Asset Management LLC, would comprise 62 rental units, broken out into: 28 studios, 24 one-bedrooms, 2 two-bedrooms and 8 three-bedrooms. According to the developer's plans, 16 apartments would be designated as affordable, and 31 parking spaces would be located on site.

Documents were submitted to MassHousing in November, and previously published by the Town of Brookline. A press release shared Tuesday says a Site Approval Application for the project has been filed with MassHousing and is now under official review.

Earlier this year, additional plans for the Coolidge Corner area were shared in "The Coolidge," a proposed, 21-story tower just off Beacon Street and near the corner of Pleasant and John streets.

As proposed, Babcock Place would replace two existing houses with rental units inside, plus some surface parking currently at 134-138 Babcock Street. It would slot into the middle of a residential neighborhood mostly made up of one- and two-story homes, as well as other apartment complexes, all near the Green Line.
