Pigs Flying Away: Popular Bakery Closing Two Boston-area Locations

The bakery has numerous locations throughout New England.

BROOKLINE, MA — A local bread bakery announced that two of its Boston-area locations are closing later this month.

When Pigs Fly Sourdough Bread’s Brookline and Jamaica Plain locations on Sunday, Aug. 17. The company cited an inability to renew the leases for its Beacon Street and Centre Street respectively. The bakery’s next three closest locations are in Somerville, Lexington, and Kittery, Maine.

“We are so grateful to both communities for your support, your love of great bread, and the memories we’ve shared,” the company said in a statement. “This isn’t goodbye.”

When Pigs Fly was founded in Maine in 1993. Since then, it has expanded throughout all of New England.
