Neighbors Recall Discovering Slain MIT Professor In Brookline Home: Report

A suspect in the case has yet to be identified and the investigation is ongoing.

BROOKLINE, MA — A neighbor of murdered MIT professor Nuno Loureiro was the first to report his killing after hearing gunshots, according to a report from the New York Post.

Louise Cohen lives above Loureiro at the upper-class apartment complex at 9 Gibbs St. After hearing what sounded like numerous shots, she opened her door and found the professor lying on his back in the building’s shared foyer with multiple gunshot wounds. She, another neighbor, and Loureiro’s wife, Ines, called 911 immediately.

Police discovered shell casings on the ground and bullets lodged into the wall where the killing took place.
