Rep. Michelle Ciccolo Endorses Mara Dolan For Governor’s Council

BROOKLINE, MA — Lexington Rep. Michelle Ciccolo has endorsed public defender Mara Dolan for Governor's Council, District 3, which includes Ciccolo's district, 15th Middlesex.

The Governor's Council is made up of eight elected Councilors who vet and vote on judicial nominations, commutations and pardons, and members of the Parole Board. Dolan seeks the Democratic nomination for District 3, which includes parts of Boston, all of Arlington, Brookline, Newton, Waltham, and her hometown of Concord among its 32 cities and towns.

“I enthusiastically endorse Mara Dolan for Governor's Council because she has the kind of experience and background required for this role,” Ciccolo said in a statement. “Over the years, I have continued to be impressed with Mara for her diligence, hard work and sustained focus on helping people in need. Mara has served as a public defender for 15 years in the Superior, District, and Juvenile Courts. This gives her a unique and highly valuable perspective which is so essential as we work to reform our criminal justice system. We must have people on the Governor's Council who truly understand how the system works from the inside so that we can advance strategies that will create better life outcomes for all who interact with the courts. For these reasons, Mara is my choice for Governor's Council.”
