5T: Adopt a Class 2019 Fundraiser, Excise Taxes Due and More Snow Expected

Today is Friday, March 8. Here are 5 things you need to know:
- Snow: Looks like snow today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect snow showers, mainly before noon, with new accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. It will be windy with gusts as high as 41 miles per hour. High temperature today near 36 degrees. Cloudy in the early evening then gradually clearing. Overnight low around 25.
- Excise taxes: A reminder that Burlington excise taxes are due today. Burlington Town Hall is open until 1 p.m. today (weather permitting).
- Adopt a Class gameshow: An Adopt a Class 2019 fundraising event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. this evening at the Burlington American Legion. The event is Game Show Mania and is fashioned after Jeopardy. It includes a Game Show Host, Assistant, microphones, four podiums, and a full sound system, like a real game show. Teams of four will compete on fun trivia in a round robin format until a Championship Team is selected (and wins prizes). Click here for more information.
- Baby books: The Burlington Public Library is hosting a Baby Storytime for newborns to children 18 months old at 11 a.m. this morning. Delight and stimulate your baby’s senses with books, songs and puppets that help build brain power.
- Theater: The Burlington Players are presenting their newest show "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress" at 8 p.m. this evening at the Park Playhouse. The play is described as "Alan Ball's irreverent and touching tale of five bridesmaids at an ostentatious Tennessee wedding, who hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason." Ball is the creator of "True Blood" and "Six Feet Under." Tickets are $15-18 with a $3 senior/student discount. Click here for more information and show times.
