Today is Tuesday, March 19. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Wintry mix: Looks like a messy day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect a mix of snow and sleet before 11 a.m. followed by snow until noon, then rain and snow after noon. Accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. High near 38 degrees. Rain and snow likely tonight before 10 p.m. followed by a chance of snow. New accumulation of less than an inch possible. Overnight low near 25 degrees.

  • Public meetings: The Capital Budget Committee is meeting at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall basement lounge. The Board of Appeals is meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the main hearing room at Town Hall.
  • TAG: The Library Teen Advisory Group for children in grades 6-12 is meeting at the Burlington Public Library at 5:30 p.m. this evening. The group will help plan library events for teens, discuss movies, music and video games, make new friends and enjoy snacks.
  • New career help: The Burlington Public Library is hosting a Career Transition program from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today. This is a networking and workshop dedicated to providing a 'roadmap to re-employment' for transitioning professionals. It is free and all are welcome.
  • Square Dancing: Saint Malachy Catholic Church is holding beginner square dancing lessons at 7 p.m. this evening. Experienced dancers also welcome. Fun for singles and couples and it is good exercise. Cost is $7. Click here for more information.
