Interested in Public Service? Burlington Town Office and Town Meeting Open Seats

Papers are available for Open Town Offices and Town Meeting positions for the April 6 town election.

Are you interested in running for a town office or to be a Town Meeting Member? For those interested in public service, papers are now available at the Burlington Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall for Town Offices for the April 6 Town Election. 

There are a number of open seats for Town Wide offices as well as Town Meeting Positions.

According to Town Clerk Amy Warfield the next deadline is Thursday, Feb 14th. at 5 p.m. This is the last day for people interested in running for office to take out nomination papers.  They will need to be returned by 5 p.m. on Feb 19th.  The Town Hall will be open Wednesday, Feb 13th until 7 p.m. for any one interested in taking out papers.

  • Precinct 2 - 2 open seats for 1 year positions
  • Precinct 5 - 1 open seats for 1 year positions
  • Precinct 6 - 2 open seats for 3 year positions
  • Precinct 7 -3 open seats for 3 year positions
  • Precinct 7 -2 open seats for 2 year positions

There are also town office seats that are open:

  • Town Moderator - 1 open seat for 1 year postion
  • Board of Selectmen - 2 open seats for 3 year positions
  • Assessor - 1 open seat for a 3 year position
  • Treasurer/Collector - 1 open seat for a 3 year position
  • School Committee - 2 open seats for 3 year positions
  • Library Trustees - 2 open seats for 3 year positions
  • Planning Board - 1 open seat for a 5 year position
  • Board of Health - 2 open seats for 3 year positions
  • First Constable - 1 open seat for 3 year position
  • Second Constable - 1 open seat for 3 year position
  • Housing Authority - 1 open seat for 5 year position
  • Recreation Commission - 1 open seat for a 3 year position

Any Registered Voter living in Burlington’s who would like to participate in Local Government can take out papers to fill these seats.  To be placed on the ballot they will need to get 10 (ten) signatures from voters in their precinct by the deadline. The Town election is April 6 at the Burlington High School Gym.
