Letter: Gerald Beuchelt Announces Candidacy for Town Meeting

The following is a letter to the editor:

I am writing to announce my candidacy for another term as Burlington Town Meeting representative in Precinct 4. Having been elected to this position last year to fill one of the seats that opened up as a result of the redistricting, I hope to have served with honor and help Burlington to develop into the town we all love. I would like to you to consider my candidacy for Town Meeting again in 2013.

As a Town Meeting member, my areas of focus will continue to be supporting responsible growth in the residential and business communities, enhancing the appearance of our town, sustaining improvements in the town’s infrastructure (roads, water supply, etc.), and improving education while making choices in a fiscally responsible way. In my role as the Chairman for the Information Systems Advisory Committee (ISAC) I have had the opportunity to present to the Town Meeting and help drive the responsible development of the town’s IT systems. Under ISAC’s supervision, the assessment of the town IT systems was completed on time and significantly under budget. As Town Meeting Member I will continue to ensure that effective use of our taxes is a top priority.

As Chief Security Officer for Demandware, a Burlington-based Cloud Service company for eCommerce and retail business, I am keenly aware of the challenges and needs of the local business community. Leveraging my skills and expertise, I will continue to support Town Meeting in making sound decisions on a large variety of problems.

Having been Burlington residents for more than 13 years, my family and I are really at home in our community. I have supported various local groups and I am a youth leader in Burlington’s Boy Scout Troop 511 for more than 4 years. My Town Meeting experience has been invaluable to me personally, and I will continue to bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the position. I have the experience required to continue to be an influential TM member and to represent you as residents of Precinct 4.
