Police: Recent Rash of Catalytic Converter Thefts in Town and Along Route 128
The automobile part contains precious metals that could be sold to scrap yards.

The Burlington Police are alerting residents and business owners and managers of a rash of recent catalytic converter thefts in town. The thefts are likely being committed because the automobile part has precious metals that could be sold to scrap yards.
Accoring to a release from the Burlington Police Department, vehicles that sit higher from the ground, such as trucks, pick-ups and SUVs are particularly vulnerable of catalytic converter theft because thieves can slide underneath without having to jack up the vehicle to gain access to the converter.
"With just a few cuts of a battery-powered saw, the catalytic converter can be stolen in less than a minute," the release states. "These thefts typically happen to vehicles that are parked for prolonged periods of time in large lots such as shopping areas and company parking lots."
