Scrabble Tournament

Twenty-eight eager students (entering grades 4-8) came to the Burlington Public Library on Saturday afternoon, February 23, to compete in a 3-game Scrabble Tournament.  They had registered in teams of 2 and teams were randomly picked to face each other in the first game.  There were 6 teams from the Burlington Library Scrabble Club, 4 teams from the Sage School in Foxboro, 2 teams from the Woburn Public Library Scrabble Club, 1 team from the Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood, and 1 team from the Norman E. Day School in Westford.  For the second and third rounds, scores were tallied and then those who had a similar point spread faced each other for the next game.  In between games students enjoyed snacks that were provided by the Friends of the Burlington Library.  Prizes were given to the top three teams, the team with the highest scoring winter word and to the team who demonstrated the best sportsmanship.

The top three teams were:

Daniel Plotkin and Jack Randall – Sage School/Foxboro

Michael Cerullo and Max Marshall – Woburn Public Library

Sam Randall and Shivan Giroti – Sage School/ Foxboro

Congratulations to these teams and to all who participated!
