Which Burlington Firms Got The Most Federal Coronavirus Money?

BURLINGTON, MA— From cleaning services to personal protective equipment, the federal government has sent more than $1.5 billion to Massachusetts companies for coronavirus relief efforts since Congress passed the CARES Act in March.

And more than $250 thousand of that federal money ended up in Burlington, thanks to with CARES Act money going to four Burlington companies, according to the Federal Procurement Data System.

Burlington Companies Receiving The Most Money In CARES Act Contracts

As of Nov. 5

Comsol, Inc. — $15,930

EMD Millipore Corporation — $85,553.20

Filter Sales and Service, Inc. — $60,280.80

Vecna Technologies, Inc. — $90,000

Vecna received its contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs for computer programming services. EMD Millipore received five contracts from the National Institutes of Health for biological manufacturing.

The list of companies getting CARES Act contracts includes some of the best-known names doing business in Massachusetts, including General Dynamics, Iron Mountain Information Management, Raytheon, Siemens Healthcare and W.B. Mason. Well-known nonprofits, including MIT, Harvard and Boston Children's Hospital, have also received CARES Act contracts.

Congress passed the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27. In addition to providing direct aid to people who lost their jobs and establishing the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses avoid laying off workers, the act included direct government spending for fighting the coronavirus.
