5 Fastest Men, Women From Cambridge To Run Boston

Do you know these people? They're pretty fast.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Some 196 people from Cambridge were signed up to run the Boston Marathon this year along side nearly 30,000 others. But how'd our fair Cambridge runners do in this crazy weather? They're all heroes in our book, but the top finishers deserve a little extra recognition. A 33-year old named Ian Neill was the fastest man in Cambridge.

Neill came in 72nd place overall in the Boston Marathon with an official time of 2:36:33. For reference that's an average pace of 5:59 per mile. That's for 26.2 miles, mind you. Just think about that for a second.

The fastest woman from Cambridge? Rose Penfold, a 27-year old who was, incidentally the second fastest woman in the state to complete the Boston Marathon this year. She ran that soggy race in under 3 hours with a time of 2:54:06. Her pace? 6:39 per minute. She came in 924th overall and 26th for women overall and 23rd for her division.
