After Shootings, Cambridgeport and Riverside Residents Invited to Community Meeting
Cambridgeport and Riverside residents invited to community meeting on Sept. 26 to address recent shootings in the area.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Cambridgeport and Riverside residents are invited to a second community meeting this week to discuss September two shootings in the area. (Subscribe to Cambridge Patch for more local news and real-time alerts.)
Last week, Cambridge Mayor Simmons, Vice Mayor McGovern, and the Cambridge Police Department announced the meeting to further discuss the City’s response to and the Police Department’s investigation of the two incidents.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Putnam Avenue Upper Schools Auditorium, 102 Putnam Avenue, Cambridge.

According to a release from the Mayor's Office, the community meeting will also provide an opportunity for residents to meet with their Neighborhood Sergeant and Lieutenant (as well as other police officials,) discuss any other crime and safety concerns in your neighborhood, and hear about the many services offered by the Cambridge Police Department.
Earlier in the month, Cambridge Police responded to two seperate shootings in the area of Riverside and Cambridgeport.

According to Cambridge Police, the first occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at approximately 10:46 a.m. in the area of River Street and Auburn Street.
On Sept. 13, Cambridge police arrested Lamaree Wallace, 20, of Washington Street in Boston, who will face multiple charges, including firearm offenses and possession of drugs in dealer quantities.
Police also arrested Frantz Teneus, 21, of North Hampton Street in Boston, on the similar drug charges.
The shooting was reported at 5:20 p.m. Sunday evening, about half an hour after two people were shot at the Cambridge Carnival. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Michael Coleman, 23, of Dorchester, was arrested that day and charged in the carnival shooting.
According to CPD, multiple shots were fired but no injuries were reported, only property damage.
In a statement, Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard said the Cambridge Police is still seeking to identify an additional suspect(s) connected to Sunday’s River Street shooting incident, as well as suspects affiliated with a separate, non-fatal River Street area shooting that took place on Tuesday, September 5.
