In Bid for Safety, Cambridge Restricting Some Left-Hand Turns in Inman Square

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The City of Cambridge is restricting several left-hand turns in Inman Square, a bid for traffic safety that's being celebrated as a win by city cycling advocates.
The changes are effective Nov. 3.
According to the city's Department of Traffic, Parking, and Transportation, the following turning movement bans will start on that date:

- No left turn from Hampshire Street southbound (towards Kendall Square) to Cambridge Street eastbound.
- No left turn from Hampshire Street northbound (towards Somerville) to Cambridge Street westbound
- No left turn from Cambridge Street westbound to Antrim Street southbound.
The department will study the impact of the changes in the intersection over the next few months, as well as its effect on nearby intersections and neighborhoods.
