Cambridge Half Marathon: Roads to Avoid (Plus, Where to Watch)

The city has some guidelines you should probably read if you want to see the race or drive around Cambridge this Sunday.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The first-ever Cambridge half marathon is this Sunday, and there are a few things drivers should know.

Here's what the city has shared:

The first-ever Cambridge 13.1 mile Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 13, at 8 a.m. This is the first time a race event of this size has ever been held in Cambridge and will result in significant traffic delays in particular areas along the course route, including East Cambridge/Central Square, Harvard Square, North Cambridge, Fresh Pond, and Belmont.

Motorists are strongly urged to avoid attempting to drive in this area or in feeder streets adjacent to route between 7:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the day of the race.

Route Overview:

Runners line up on First St (near Hurley), go left on Cambridge St., right on Mass Ave., left on Minuteman Bike Path to Fitchburg Cutoff bike path, right on Brighton St, left on Statler Rd., right on Channing Rd., left on Concord Ave., left on Wheeler Rd. to Terminal St., to Fresh Pond Mall parking lot to New St., turn left into Danehy Park, right on Sherman St., to Garden St., left on Mass Ave, right on Cambridge St, right on Broadway, left on Galileo Galilei Way to Binney St, left on First to finish at First & Thorndike St.
