Cambridge Library Hosts Narcan Training, Overdose Awareness Event
Tuesday at the Central Square branch.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The Central Square branch of the Cambridge Public Library system will host a Narcan training and overdose awareness event Tuesday, engaging the community in saving lives that otherwise might be lost to Massachusetts' opioid epidemic.
The session, presented by the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, will discuss ways to fight the opioid epidemic, and will instruct attendees on use of the overdose reversal drug, Narcan.
It is scheduled from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the 45 Pearl Street library branch.

According to the state Department of Public Health, opioid overdoses have increased significantly in the past decade in Massachusetts. Opioids include heroin and prescription drugs such as oxycodone (oxycontin), fentanyl, hydrocodone, codeine, and methadone.
