Cambridge Man Arrested For Belle Isle Marsh Assault

The man was charged in connection to a non-fatal East Boston assault, but not with the death of an 83-year-old man there days earlier.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - A 51-year-old Cambridge man was arrested for an assault on a man inside the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation in East Boston.

Michael Bruzzese, 51, has been charged in connection with assaulting a 67-year-old Lynn man inside the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation in East Boston, according to a release from the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. The charges are not related to an assault May 29 that resulted in the death 83-year-old East Boston man Daniel Pepe. The State Police investigation into how Pepe suffered his fatal injuries is ongoing.

Bruzzese had a temporary residence in Cambridge and formerly lived in Hingham, according to the release. He is currently on probation for a breaking and entering conviction. He was taken into custody yesterday and will be arraigned Friday in the East Boston Division of the Boston Municipal Court.

Bruzzese is charged with assault and battery on a person over 60; breaking and entering of a vehicle during the daytime; larceny; and unarmed robbery on a person over 60.
