Cambridge Police Logs: Milk Man Pours Out a Carton on His Head at 7/11

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The following are excerpts from the Cambridge police log from Oct. 4 to Oct. 14. The logs is public record and available for review at the Cambridge Police Dept. All persons are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
Cambridge Police arrest Mattapan man for crack possession
Cambridge Police were dispatched to Main Street on Oct. 4 for a ShotSpotter activation, which was later determined to be unfounded. While on scene, officers spotted a suspicious vehicle with five men inside. According to police, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After questioning the occupants of the vehicle, police arrested Sebastien Gassant, 23, 601 River Street in Mattapan, was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.
Gassant was placed under arrest for the Possession of Class B Crack/Cocaine.

Cambridge man arrested for attempted arson
Police arrested Francisco Rasate-Reyes, 26, of 240 Albany Street, Cambridge was arrested for attempted arson of a motor vehicle on Lopez Street on Oct. 8
According to police, Rasate-Reyes was observed and positively identified by a witness as placing a paper bag in the engine area of a motorcycle and lighting it on fire.
Later, Rasate-Reyes was stopped by MIT police and identified by the witness thanks to a pirate hat he had been wearing.
Milk man pours out a carton at 7/11
Police responded to a 7/11 on Massachusettes Avenue on Oct. 6 for a strange call.
Acccording to the store owner, an unknown male wearing purple dreadlocks came into his store, grabbed a carton of milk, got up on the counter and poured it over his head.
According to the owner, the man then walked out of the store to two women accompanying him and walked away.
Police said there was no damage to the store and the owner is not familiar with the male, however he does have video of the male committing this act.
Cambridge man arrested for A&B on police officer
On Wednesday, October 11, Cambridge Police officers responded to a reported stabbing at 12:17 a.m. in the area of Cambridge Street and Cardinal Medeiros Avenue. Officers went into a courtyard of a nearby church and found two males who are homeless and that matched the description of the suspects provided, as well as another individual.
According to a police report, one suspect was found to have a bruise on his face and blood on his shirt. All three males were given verbal commands to sit and show their hands. The suspect with the bruise and blood on his shirt refused to sit down and made a quick motion for his left pocket.
According to Cambridge Police PIO Jeremy Warnick, one of the officers attempts to pull the suspect’s hand away from grabbing any potential weapons within his pocket. The suspect continued to refuse to take his hand out of his pocket and then struck the handling officer in the shin with his foot.
Warnick said another officer rushed over to assist in bringing the resisting suspect to the ground and pulling his hands out of his pocket. After he was brought to the ground, he was handcuffed for everyone’s safety. The suspect and the other parties were searched and, despite the suspect’s actions, no weapon was found.
It was later confirmed that there was a fight (not a stabbing), in which the suspect sustained a laceration to his ear from the fight. Nelson Martinez, 47, 240 Albany Street in Cambridge, was ultimately arrested for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
Man reports robbery by armed suspects
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Cambridge Police responsed to a call for an armed robbery in the area of Franklin Street and River Street.
The victim reported he was approached by two black males wearing ski masks and dark colored sweatshirts and pants. One of the suspects displayed a knife and robbed the man.
The victim described the suspects as in their late teens.
According to a police report, the suspect pressed a silver blade against the victim's abdomen. The victim was not injured and refused medical treatment. Responding
The suspects allegedly stole a cell phone, $40 in cash and a wallet, containing credit cards and $120 in cash, which belonged to the victim's friend.
According to police, the suspect gave several accounts of where exactly the robbery happened and said he wouldn't be able to recognize the suspect's faces because they were wearing masks.
But, he told officers, he might be able to identify them based on their clothes.
Officers searched the area several times to no avail.
Medford man arrested for violations after littering
A Medford man was arrested for several outstanding warrants after an officer saw him litter twice on Mass. Avenue in Cambridge.
According to police, Alma Janvier, Jr. 38, of 66 Harvard Avenue, Medford, smashed a glass bottle in the gutter of Douglass Street. A Cambridge Police officer ordered him to pick the trash up and dispose of it.
Just a few minutes later, the same officer saw Janvier empty his pockets, including an empty cigarette carton onto the streets in Central Square.
After ordering him again to throw away his trash, the officer asked for his identification.
After a quick search for a record, Janvier was arrested regarding a warrant out of Malden District Court for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop/Yield, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
