Cambridge Police to Train at Foundry Building Next Week

Cambridge Police announced they will be using the Foundry Building for training next week.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Cambridge Police announced they will be using the Foundry Building for training next week.

On Tuesday, Cambridge Police Dept. issued a release explaining there is no danger to the public.

The Cambridge Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) will be participating in a variety of public safety training exercises Monday, November 13 through Thursday, November 16 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

Warnick said the Foundry Building is being used as a temporary public safety training site for the Cambridge Police and Cambridge Fire Department as a result of a collaboration between City Manager DePasquale and the Cambridge School Department.

Students from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Rindge School of Technical Arts (RSTA) recently received hands-on construction training building partition walls, installing doors, and practicing other carpentry skills at the Foundry Building, he said.

Their newly constructed "rooms" will provide a safe area for a wide variety of training scenarios, including this upcoming Special Response Team training.

The training will occur at the Foundry Building, which is located at 101 Rogers Street, and is restricted to the general public. Officers from the SRT will be in full uniform and may utilize tactical vehicles.

"There is no danger to the public and we urge residents not to be alarmed," the statement read.
