Cambridge Teacher Charged With Child Pornography Offenses

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Friday that a teacher at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School on 80 Gerry's Landing Road has been charged with multiple child pornography charges.

Joshua Dewitte, 50, was arraigned Thursday on one count of distribution of obscene matter to a minor, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing material of a child in a sex act for exchanging videos and photos with minors online.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered last month that Dewitte was having sexually-charged conversations with multiple underage males on the Snapchat phone application, according to officials. The victims in the case are yet to be identified.

Dewitte’s bail was set at $8,000. He was forced to surrender his passport and is forbidden from any communication with minors. His next court date is slated to be Friday, Jan. 31.
