CambridgeSide Celebrating Historic Diner Through Photo Exhibit

The mall is located on 100 Cambridgeside Place.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — CambridgeSide shopping mall has announced an upcoming art exhibit honoring one of the town’s most famous eateries.

The Diner Project is a complementary exhibit that tells the story of Russ’s Kitchenette Diner through photos. The event is composed of photos taken during the diner’s final years between 1974 and 1977.
Photographer Andrew Satter documented the life of Russ’s staff and customers through his photos. In addition to his 41 photos, the exhibit also features a video interview where Satter discusses his experience photographing the establishment 50 years ago.

“If a picture tells a story, these images capture the grit, pathos, and playful comradery consistently displayed by this tightly knit community of blue-collar workers and reminds us of a bygone time,” Satter said.
