Cat Cafe 'Purr' Set to Open This Week in Boston
After a rocky start, Purr cat cafe is set to open in Boston this week.
BOSTON, MA — A new cat cafe is set to open later this week in Brighton not far from the border with Brookline after cancelling a soft opening in early November, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
On Tuesday, Purr announced via Facebook it would be opening on Saturday, Nov. 18.
On Nov. 1, Purr owner Diane Kelly announced via Facebook it would delay a soft opening to clear up outstanding issues.

"Due to the amount of concern regarding the cafe I have taken the advice of my consultant to not open today. We will be focusing on addressing issues regarding Purr Cat Cafe later this week, answering every question and concern the community has. We will resume business once we have addressed these issues and fixed them appropriately," she wrote.
According to the Boston Restaurant Talk article, the cat cafe has had a long and (at times) controversial ride since it was first announced back in the spring of 2016.

Including a rejection of a permit application, a loss of an adoption partner, public arguments with people on Facebook (including former workers), and opening dates that were pushed back--and its Facebook page has been taken down and put back up at least a few times this year.
