CAMBRIDGE, MA — The fire department rescued a dog trapped in an escalator at the Harvard MBTA station.

The back paws of the small pet got caught in the moving mechanism of the escalator at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday. The department’s Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Squad 4, and Division 2 made up the response team to the incident. The dog was able to be freed in a relatively short amount of time before it and its owner were transported to an emergency veterinary facility out of precaution as the dog’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.

According to the department, one firefighter was bitten by the dog while attempting to extract it from the escalator.
