Man Shot, Semi-Automatic Gun, Cocaine Found Nearby: Cambridge PD

Now police are asking for the public's help in finding the person who shot the 33 year old.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A man in his 30s is in the hospital after he was shot near the corner of Fifth and Spring streets early Tuesday.

While searching the area after getting the man help, officers said they found a semi-automatic firearm on a nearby porch, a "large quantity" of crack cocaine and a knife among other evidence.

Now police are asking for the public's help in finding those involved in the shooting.

Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police patrolling Fifth Street because of a rash of catalytic converter thefts heard a gunshot. He then saw a man who was injured making his way along Spring Street toward Fifth Street, and two cars leaving the area.

The officer ran to the injured man and provided medical aid before Cambridge fire crews arrived and took him to a hospital, where he is in stable condition, they said.

Police said they found two abandoned cars near Hurley Street, and identified two Boston men as possible suspects. They were taken to the Cambridge Police Station for questioning. But no one has been charged.
