Person Reportedly Jumps Into Charles; Mass. Ave. Bridge Shut Down

Cambridge Fire Department received a report of a person jumping into the Charles River at 4:53 p.m. today.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Cambridge firefighters rescued a person who jumped into the Charles River today.

They initially responded to a report of a person who jumped in the Charles River at 4:53 p.m. today. The Mass Ave bridge was closed to traffic. Cambridge Ladder Company One reported on twitter that the victim was rescued and taken to the Boston side of the river.

Earlier in the afternoon, parts of Mass. Ave. were closed when a building at MIT caught on fire.
