Police: Watertown Man Drowns After Being Pushed into Charles River

Malden man accused of pushing him faces manslaughter charges.

Cambridge, MA - State Police have determined a man who drowned in the Charles River Tuesday was pushed from a dock near the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge.

The person accused of pushing the victim in has been arrested, State Police said via Twitter.

Massachusetts State Police responded to reports that the man entered the water from a dock near the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge. The State Police Marine Unit and Boston Fire Department Divers pulled him from the water at about 5:20 p.m., according to a State Police press release. The bridge was briefly shut down.

The district attorney's office identified the victim Wednesday as Mitchell Harrison, 26, of Watertown.

Harrison was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in grave condition Tuesday. He died overnight.

The Suffolk District Attorney's office said 27-year-old Lenny Quintero-Flores, of Malden, is expected to be arraigned today in Charlestown Municipal Court on a manslaughter charge for allegedly pushing Harrison into the river as Harrison was sleeping or intoxicated on the dock.
