Quíntuples and singer-songwriter Kianí to perform in Boston

Catch Puerto Rican theater classic Quíntuples and Kianí Medina's solo debut in Boston this fall, celebrating vibrant culture and music.

Boston's Latin American literature enthusiasts and fans of Puerto Rican contemporary music are in for a treat this fall. The BoriCorridor Tour is bringing two exceptional performances to town, showcasing the richness of Puerto Rican culture and its vibrant arts scene.

First up is the national theater classic Quíntuples, penned by the acclaimed Luis Rafael Sánchez. This poignant and humorous play will be performed by Joaquín Jarque and Gretza Merced at the Liebergott Black Box Theatre in November. Directed by Emineh De Lourdes, Quíntuples delves into the lives of the Morrison family with a series of powerful monologues. This production is a revival of the play’s triumphant 2022 return to Puerto Rico, which kicked off the Puerto Rican Theater Festival in honor of Sánchez’s work.

Elsa Mosquera, co-leader of Ágora Cultural Architects and creator of the BoriCorridor Tour, expressed her excitement: “We are honored to bring this significant Puerto Rican play to Boston for the enjoyment of theater lovers and the creative talent of maestro Luis Rafael Sánchez. Quíntuples is a classic that also represents ‘la puertorriqueñidad,’ making it a perfect conclusion to this first year of BoriCorridor artistic tours.”

In addition to the theatrical experience, music lovers will have the chance to see the solo debut of the extraordinary Kianí Medina. Known for her impressive vocal work with Residente, El Laberinto del Coco, and Cultura Profética, Medina will perform at CROMA in October. Her new musical project, produced by Omar Rodríguez López of Mars Volta fame, promises an unforgettable night of music blending unique rhythmic fusions with Medina’s powerful vocals. This performance highlights her evolution as an artist and her captivating stage presence.

The BoriCorridor Tour, supported by the Mellon Foundation, aims to connect artists from Puerto Rico with cultural organizations and audiences in the United States. This initiative follows a successful first season, which featured Teatro Breve’s comedy and the musical talents of Jazz Boricua and Hermes Croatto.

Tickets for both Kianí Medina’s performance and the Quíntuples show are available now at www.boritix.com. Don’t miss these chances to immerse yourself in Puerto Rican culture and experience some of its most talented artists right here in Boston.
