
Summer Concert Series Performance Postponed
The Village Shoppes Summer Concert Series had to postpone Downcity's July 23 performance due to the rain.
The concert, featuring the nine piece swing, rock and R&B band, will instead take place Tuesday, August 6, according to the Village Shoppes Facebook page.
The next concert (featuring Memphis, an eight piece funk and top 40 band) is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, July 30.
Concerts take place Tuesdays from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. next to the Halfway Cafe.

Canton Police to Take Part in Child Abduction Drill
The following is from the Canton Police Department:
On Wednesday, July 24 in the Town of Norwood, a “mock” child abduction drill will occur.
Officers from the cities, towns and Sheriff’s departments that are a part of the Metro LEC organization will mobilize and respond to Norwood to investigate a report of a missing child.
Upon successful completion of the drill, Metro LEC will become one of only 19 nationally certified Child Abduction Response Teams (CART) in the country and only the second northeastern state team to receive this honor (Pennsylvania was the first).
Canton Police Chief Berkowitz, Deputy Chief Findlen, Lt. Keleher, and Officers Lehan, Wanless and Wolffe are all scheduled to take part in the exercise.

In Case You Missed It: Chubby Chickpea Offers True Israeli Cuisine Right Here in Canton
Avi Shemtovo started in the food business quite early, and he’s brought his experience to the Chubby Chickpea in Canton center.
“I started unofficially at birth,” he said. “My dad owned restaurants from the time I was born up until I was done with college.”
Shemtovo said his dad first owned the store at its current location as a pizza joint. When he took over he said he wanted to have a more distinct cuisine.
