Canton School Leadership Plans to Meet and Greet with Residents
Offers Update on Mediation and Details for Attending "Coffee Hours"

CANTON – The Canton School Leadership Team held a very productive weekend mediation session with the Canton Teachers Association (CTA) Bargaining Units A and E. After the session, the CTA notified the community that it was ending the Work to Rule action it began shortly before the December school vacation.
Mediation Update
“We made significant progress, and we are thankful and appreciative to everyone involved for their hard work during the Saturday mediation session,” Superintendent Derek Folan said. “We are thrilled that the work to rule is suspended. Our school community, especially our students, will benefit greatly. We are committed to and hopeful for a positive resolution soon.”
The Canton School Leadership Team’s goal is to reach consensus on a contract that will center on educational excellence, reward Canton’s educators for their dedication and hard work, and be fiscally sustainable for the community.
“Saturday’s mediation session was professional, cordial and productive,” said School Committee Chair Kristian Darigan Merenda. “We have dedicated, caring professionals on both sides of the bargaining table, and I remain confident that we will reach a fair agreement soon.”
