Police have identified the man who drowned in Reservoir Pond Wednesday night.

CANTON, MA — Police have identified the man who drowned in Reservoir Pond Wednesday night.
James Paschal, 26, died while swimming in the pond, according to a statement from Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz. The Boston Globe reported that Paschal was at the pond at around 8 p.m. when he began to struggle and call for helm.

Local and state police spent much of Wednesday night and early Thursday morning searching the pond for Paschal. Early indications were that police were looking for someone who went fishing.

At around 2 a.m., police recovered Paschal's body from the pond.

The death is under investigation.
