Today is Friday, Dec. 17. Here are three things you need to know today.
1. You can watch your favorite movie on DVD
Have you noticed the billboard strategically erected on the other side of the Gilmore Bridge, seen as you're heading into the neighborhood from Boston/Cambridge? It's like the new Welcome to Charlestown sign. Though, in fact, it's an ad for The Town, which is available on DVD, starting today. Just in time for every Townie and Toonie's holiday shopping. :)
2. In case of snow
Forecast is looking like we may have a nor'easter Sunday. Or we might not. There's a decent chance, however, that sometime in the next four months there will be snow. Very important: the City of Boston has recently changed its snow alert system. If you want to get an email or a text announcing a snow emergency, you've got to sign for AlertBoston. Registration was a bit wonky in the first few weeks, so proceed with patience to www.cityofboston.gov/alertboston. And feel free to call the mayor's office at 617-635-4500 if you need any help.
3. Because you've been curious about tai chi
Or maybe bartending? Or belly dancing? Patch user Wayne Johnson posted some info yesterday on community education courses at Bunker Hill Community College. If you've got a little time and the inclination to take a course next semester, now's the time to see what the school is offering. You can read more about the community education program on Bunker Hill's web site.
