5 Things: Egg Hunts, Fun Friday and Coffee Talk

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 29 in Charlestown.

1. Egg hunts: Bring the kids by the Zelma Lacey House (9 W. School St.) today at 9:30 a.m. for a community egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, contests, games, prizes and plenty of sweets. This event is free and open to all. If you can’t make today’s event, plan to join the annual Charlestown Mothers Association Spring Egg Hunt on Saturday March 30 beginning at 10 a.m. sharp at the Charlestown Community Center (255 Medford St.).

2. Office hours: Second Suffolk District State Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty holds office hours on the last Friday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at Zume’s Coffee House (223 Main St.). Drop by to speak with him on any issues of concern.

3. Fun Friday: Wind down for the weekend with activities at the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today from 2:30-4:30 p.m. There may be a craft, a short movie, a story time or games. For ages 3 and up.

4. E-reader 101: Ever wondered how to use an e-reader to check out books from the Boston Public Library? Drop by the Central Branch (700 Boylston St.) today at 2:30 p.m. with your e-reader and cord and learn how. This class is free and open to all.

5. Swing dance: Boston Swing Central (24 Roland St.) hosts a swing dance every Friday at 8 p.m. with dancing and live jazz music from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s swing era. The $10 admission includes a beginner’s lesson from 8-9 p.m., with social dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. No partner or prior experience is required.
