5 Things: Gala for Autism, Abutters Meeting

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 25 in Charlestown.

1. Gala for Autism: The Teamsters Local 25 will hold the sixth annual “Light Up the Night” Gala for Autism on Saturday, March 30. The event will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Continental Hotel in Boston and will benefit Autism Speaks and local autism charities. Tickets cost $60 each and can be purchased online at http://teamsterslocal25autism.com.

2. Abutters meeting: The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services has scheduled an abutters meeting today at 7 p.m. regarding a proposed rear deck at 68 Russell St. and a proposed dormer at 4 Marshall Place. The meeting will be held oat St. Francis de Sales Church (303 Bunker Hill St.).

3. Pan-Mass signups: Registration is open for the Pan-Mass Challenge. Now in its 34th year, the annual cross-commonwealth bike-a-thon raises money for cancer research and treatment programs at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. There are routes for all age and skill level, ranging from 27 miles to 111 miles. For more information or to register, visit www.pmc.org.

5. Scholarship available: Applications are now being accepted for the $5,000 Michael P. Quinn Scholarship, which is awarded every June. Applicants must be a resident of Charlestown for the past four years and a graduate with the Class of 2013. Recipients may use the scholarship during the first year of college only.
