5 Things: Kennedy Center Fundraiser, Job Help
Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 13 in Charlestown.
1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny and windy, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance of rain or even light snow late this evening. High: 52, Low: 32.
2. Toddler Time: Bring your toddler by the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library on Wednesdays in March from 10:30-11 a.m. for stories, puppets, rhymes and more. This program is free and geared toward children under 3.
3. Kennedy Center fundraiser: A fundraising reception for The Kennedy Center in Charlestown will be held today from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. A contribution of at least $100 per person is requested. Tickets can be purchased at the door. All proceeds will support the center’s services, which include early childhood education and day care, antipoverty services, translation services, elder care support and more.

4. Job search help: Neighbors helping Neighbors USA meets every Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Boston Public Library’s Central Branch (700 Boylston St.). The free, peer-led group helps individuals in their job search. Membership is open to anyone in career transition including unemployed or underemployed individuals and recent college graduates in the fields of business, nonprofit, and education, as well as individuals re-entering the job market, struggling small business owners and anyone looking for part-time or volunteer work.
5. Waterfront planning begins: The Boston Redevelopment Authority will provide an overview of the Downtown Waterfront planning project today from 6:30-8 p.m. at the New England Aquarium IMAX Theater (1 Central Wharf). The planning process, which is expected to last 18 months to two years, involves the redevelopment of the area from Long Wharf down to the Evelyn Moakley Bridge (Seaport Boulevard). At this public meeting, the BRA will introduce consultants from Utile Inc. and discuss the scope, process and timeline of the planning project. Additional public events, including tours of the area, are being held this week.
