5 Things: Voter Registration Deadline, History Talk

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 10 in Charlestown.

1. Rain possible: There is a chance of showers before 11 a.m. today and a slight chance of showers after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Showers will continue into the evening. High: 64, Low: 43.

2 .Voter registration: Today is the last day to register to vote or change your address or party affiliation for the April 30 primary. The Election Department, located in Room 241 of Boston City Hall, will be open until 8 p.m. tonight. Voters who have used absentee ballots in the past are reminded that a new application must be filled out each calendar year. Applications can be downloaded from the Election Department’s website, www.cityofboston.gov/elections.

3. Nursery Rhyme story time: Join the Charlestown Branch children’s librarian for rhymes and stories, and perhaps a puppet or two, today at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome.

4. History talk: The USS Constitution Museum (1 Constitution Plaza) will host a free talk by award-winning journalist Chipp Reid, author of “Intrepid Sailors: The Legacy of Preble’s Boys and the Tripoli Campaign,” tonight at 6 p.m.

5. Health screenings: MGH Charlestown offers free blood pressure screenings on the second Wednesday of the month. Come to the basement conference room at 73 High St. A book signing and reception will follow the talk.
