5 Things: Winter Warm-up in the Navy Yard

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 28 in Charlestown.

1. Winter Warm-up: The Friends of the Charlestown Navy Yard will hold its annual Winter Warm-up today from 6-8 p.m. in MGH Building 149 on 13th Street in the Navy Yard. The event is co-sponsored by Massachusetts General Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and the MGH Institute of Health Professions and is free and open to all.

2. Science fun: Bring the kids by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today at 4 p.m. for some hands-on science fun with Dr. Can-Do Science. This free program is geared toward children ages 6-12.

3. Meet the doctors: MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center Pediatrics will hold a Meet The Doctors Forum today from noon to 1 p.m. on the second floor of the MGH HealthCare Center (73 High St.). Learn more about the practice and meet the doctors and staff. A Spanish interpreter will be on hand. For more information, call 617-724-8135.

4. Free art: Admission to the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (100 Northern Ave.) is free to all ages every Thursday from 5-9 p.m.

5. Aquarium lecture: The New England Aquarium (1 Central Wharf) will host a free lecture today at 7 p.m. Assistant Scientist/GIS Specialist Brooke Wikgren of the aquarium’s John H. Prescott Marine Laboratory will give a talk on “Using Geographic Information Systems to Keep Our Ocean Blue.” This event is open to the public and is part of the Aquarium’s free lecture series. Events will be held in the Aquarium's Harborside Learning Lab.
