Charlestown Hair Cuttery Participates in “Act For Autism”

During April, Hair Cuttery will donate to Easter Seals Act for Autism

Hair Cuttery stylist Lisa Boule knows firsthand the challenges of dealing with autism. “When my son was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, at the age of six, I knew my whole life would change,” says Boule.

She recently returned to work for Hair Cuttery after taking three years off to focus on her son’s illness.  When she found out that Hair Cuttery was supporting Easter Seals during the month of April – Autism Awareness Month – Boule was proud to have returned to Hair Cuttery to work.  “My son and I always try to do something in April for autism, and I was extremely excited when I found out that Hair Cuttery was committed to the cause as well.”

Throughout Autism Awareness Month in April, customers can visit Hair Cuttery salons across Massachusetts to “Act For Autism” and support Easter Seals services for families living with autism in their communities. Hair Cuttery fundraising throughout Massachusetts and the more than 800 salons nationwide will include customer donations to Easter Seals Act for Autism.

With one in 110 children diagnosed with autism today, there is an increased need for funding, services and support. While there is no known cause, cure or single effective treatment, Easter Seals knows that people with autism at any age can make significant progress and lead meaningful lives. Getting the right support at the earliest stage in life can help a child gain the skills he or she needs to be successful.

“Easter Seals is privileged to work with a company like Hair Cuttery, which values its role as a responsible corporate citizen and gives back to the communities in which it does business,” says James E. Williams, Jr., President and CEO of Easter Seals. “Together, Hair Cuttery and Easter Seals can raise awareness around the needs of families living with autism and make lasting change in their lives.”
